What about health insurance? What if one of both of them gets sick or hurt and needs full time care? What if the stock market falls by 50% or more? Do they plan to have kids? $500K would not even be close to enough for me to think about retirement.

Wondering what all you're missing out on in life because you choose not to engage. Good for some but not for all. Elon Musk seems to think outside of the box, sometimes it works, sometime it doesn't. Often the greatest innovations happen when we question the basic facts we know about life. Cars have never appreciated in value is one of them, he has been wrong so far but I wouldn't count out a shift in the paradigm in the next 10 years or so if the robotaxi does come into play. I doubt they will appreciate but may be able to generate a small income for the owner if robotaxi does happen. To what extent regulations will hold it back is a big question since it is true it will be very hard to get this approved and it will likely need to prove to be like 100 times safer than the human driver before people trust it and goverments approve it. Another risk can be the fact that Elon Musk has maybe created some political enemies in the US by voicing out his beliefs, some of whom may be powerful enough to stop or delay tesla self driving approval in the States. It's sad that this can be a factor, but it can be. All things worth considering when investing in Tesla but there are definitely positives as well. Tesla has brand value, Elon Musk and Tesla still have a die hard following among some people who will sign up for new subscriptions, EV's are the future and Tesla holds the first mover advantage. The engineers and work culture at Tesla also seems to be very productivity focused with no DEI and other non merit based programs to hold it back. Personally all the clearly brilliant people working at Tesla (including but not just Elon Musk) may make the risks above the rewards for me but I will wait for a good entry point for sure as its when public sentiment is super negative to Elon Musk and stock is near the lows of Twitter that it would be the right time to buy.

Inflation is out of control. The real story is being told in the bond market. Be careful.
